Design & Technology

At Manaccan Primary, it is our intent that Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Our aim is to encourage learners to think creatively in order to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team. Through well planned tasks, which allow the children to achieve the targets within familiar contexts, they learn how to take risks and become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. These are essential skills for our children to develop as they prepare to take their place as adults in society. We aim, wherever possible, to link projects to other disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Learners are given opportunities to reflect upon and evaluate past and present design technology, its uses and its effectiveness and are encouraged to become innovators and risk-takers so that they become lifelong learners.
