At Manaccan School, we are dedicated to providing an education that equips our students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to excel academically and socially. We are committed to ensuring that every child realises their full potential and is well-prepared for the next stage of their education. Together, we create a caring and nurturing community where each child's journey is celebrated, and their dreams are nurtured.
Our curriculum has been crafted by the staff of our schools. It has been carefully considered to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum whilst celebrating our locality where possible. Our rolling programme has been created to ensure that children have a mastery of knowledge and skills. As per our documentation, children will return to key skills throughout their time in school, developing their understanding and competence as they become older. Key knowledge has been identified to enable children to apply their skills. Knowledge is listed within our curriculum overview document. Key concepts have been chosen by the team and skills statements within our work have been written as ‘I can’ statements as we feel that it will help children articulate their knowledge and skills, as well as helping teachers to plan and assess children’s learning.
Due to the structure of our schools, in EYFS/ KS1 children may receive one cycle for a second time; however, through careful planning, the expectation in terms of outcome is distinguishably clear. Within KS2, children will access a unit once; however, with our skills progression document, will have the opportunity to return to them in order to achieve mastery of a skill. Due to the teaching structure of our schools, children will be exposed to vocabulary and content from other year groups; however, will be assessed against the key vocabulary and knowledge/skills of their age group phase. Knowledge may be the same for multiple year groups due to the cyclical nature of our curriculum to ensure that they have obtained the particular, chosen information.
